Here we go again

I don't write much on here. Heck, I don't write much period besides the academic drivel I am obligated to produce on a regular basis. For those who are familiar with my motives, me writing out of the blue must mean something is up.

There have been things burning up in my head for a while now. Some of it meaningless, some of it actually relevant. I am currently attempting to find a means to purchase my own domain, something that I have dreamed of obtaining for a long time now - think high school folks. The reason being is that I've always felt that, much like many people these days, I have a second life on the web. Whether that life is Brown Rug the Spartan, Xandrothan of the Shattered Sun or simply Matt the blogger, it is a presence nevertheless that must be accommodated in some form or another. Each except for the last of the three have a home that feels somewhat right, whether that be on a Myspace-esque community website or in an Inn in Shattrath City, there is something there that I can call home whenever I am finished.

As Blogspot has been good to me for the relatively short period of time that I've relocated here since the days of Xanga, it never quite felt like home. For those very few who still know me, I've had a history of maintaining my own personal blog before I turned to commercial blog services. Back then it felt right. I was not constrained in terms of how my text looked, how my space looked. It felt like home. After years of neglecting the world of blogging, this rekindling of somehow allowing the one or two individuals who sporadically come to fulfill their voyeuristic desires is attempting a comeback. I've learned that despite the complications within the academic world, the technological wonders that take your mind away from the real issues in life and the things that force you to withdraw from daily living, there needs to be an outlet for this madness.

When this project will come to fruition is unknown. I hope it comes to pass. I really do.

More to come, hopefully.

An old tradition revived

I set my rig up today and started playing the guitar again - outside of my lessons - in goodness knows how long. The twisted mess of wires which lay before me this afternoon would suggest that this once fabulously dusted and maintained piece of equipment had not been disturbed in some time. My teacher would absolutely cringe if he were to find out just how sporadic my practice regime has been.

This is something I should have done a long time ago. I blame the video games which have taken over my life for well over a year - see below post - for my stunted creativity and wallowing ignorance. Instead of getting the brain cells moving through the constant stream of blogs, I've been melting the old noggin with the continuous flow of radiation from that bright light in the living room. And I've already deduced - many years ago - that this past-time that I have partaken is already melting whatever character I have left, so spare me the talk. You don't necessarily have to become a philosopher king to figure that out.

So why the sudden withdrawal from the evils of technology in favor of a more beneficial past-time? Let's just say when things aren't looking good, there has to be a way to express it in more meaningful and less destructive ways. Not to suggest that have been I sneaking out during the night and proceed to act out my hoodlum fantasy, but there is only so much one can do to seek satisfaction in an otherwise unproductive routine.
